As part of our continuing enhancement of Surpass, we are proud to say that the summer 2015 release has gone live to customers. This release is full of features which will help our customers grow their assessment activity, become more efficient and widen their assessment scope.

So, what has changed in Surpass this summer?

Table Question Type

Tabular presentation of data is an important part of assessment, either for candidates to use as an information source, or for authors to provide a partially completed data set for the candidate to complete.

Reporting Shakeup

Our approach to reporting is to provide users with as much data as possible for them to digest in a fashion which is convenient to them. The feedback about our presentation was that the data was useful, but the way users accessed it was not as helpful as it could be. In the most recent release we have divided the data into Analytical Data and Operational Data, re-formatting the valuable data and making access easier and more logical. This is a classic example of how BTL has listened to the feedback from users via User Voice and taken action.

Dynamic Rules for Paper Assessments

Supporting a multi device and media delivery strategy has been a key feature for Surpass. Authors are able to create one item for paper, PC, tablet http://www.surpass.com/tablet/ and laptop. Until now, dynamic rules (using rules to generate the question selection, instead of fixed form creation) has been reserved for onscreen delivery. But now, authors can use this highly effective approach for paper generation.

API Version 2

Integration between your back office solutions and your e-assessment system is important if you wish to make the most of all the benefits of e-assessment take up. Remember, e-assessment isn’t just about on-screen delivery; it’s about using technology to make the most of your entire assessment process. Our new version offers a more REST based approach and includes new methods such as the ability to automate the management of centres.

Other updates include:

  • Modifications to the password protection process, improving the reset process with enhanced security.
  • Additional comments can now be included in a candidate review.
  • Over and above the API process, centres can bulk schedule candidates for an exam session via an import wizard.
  • Extending our support for QTI, media can now be included in the importing process.
