As an organisation, one thing we value above all else is our founding principal of using technology to improve learning and assessment. We want our partners to share our passion, and we regularly come together with those partners to discuss the industry, share thoughts and opinions and, ultimately, work together to create a product that meets a unified goal – better assessments for candidates.

We are thrilled whenever we get to talk to our partners because of the enthusiasm and insight they bring to the roadmap of Surpass, and in addition to regular face-to-face meetings, video calls and site visits. This year, we’ve been fortunate enough to host two large gatherings:

However where the real magic happens, is our annual Surpass Conference, which is arranged for the sole purpose of bringing all of our customers and industry partners together.
 In November, BTL hosted the 8th Annual Surpass Conference in Dublin, Ireland; an event that was attended by over 100 delegates from across the globe.
The conference offers an opportunity for Surpass customers and partners to meet, in an environment where everyone can share their own experiences and working practices for assessment, and we can listen and learn from how they use the Surpass platform to achieve these goals.
Sitting at a round-table, listening to an academic institution from the Netherlands facilitate a discussion between vocational institutions from the UK alongside U.S. Test Centre partners, it is immediately clear that geographical borders have little effect on people’s attitudes towards assessment, and that the new ideas and methodologies that are constructed in this atmosphere simply could not be achieved in any other way.

More than 20 BTL staff were available throughout the conference to facilitate introductions, share and record the great ideas produced, and promote discussion through a number of workshops and presentations that were delivered by special guests. These presentations in particular demonstrate how each organisation’s individual goals can inspire others to improve, overcome obstacles, and, in many cases, share how Surpass has helped them to achieve their objectives.

The 9th Annual Surpass Conference will take place in Edinburgh in 2016, creating yet more fantastic discussions and ideas. Watch out for Early Bird Tickets being released in the new year.
