With over 90 years of experience in assessment, BTL Learning & Assessment partners, the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), are in a perfect position to offer advice and best practice on e-assessment, particularly to those setting up Trailblazer qualifications.

SQA consider themselves experts in assessment, and quite rightly so. The organisation works with schools, colleges, universities and training organisations to develop and deliver qualifications and assessments as two distinct operations, SQA Accreditation, and SQA Awarding Body. Around 15,000 teaching professionals and industry specialists support SQA operations annually, helping to ensure that these qualifications accurately reflect learners’ knowledge and skills and provide routes to employment or further study.

In order to offer guidance on assessment for Trailblazers, SQA have now prepared a series of short videos, and much of this guidance can also be applied to general assessment and e-assessment practice.

If you are interested in learning more about Trailblazer standards, an informative white paper has also been made available to download here: http://www.sqa.org.uk/sqa/71536.html

SQA also awards a range of other qualifications, including some customised to meet the needs of individual companies and organisations. In addition, they provide advice and support services, such as expertise in assessment, that enable organisations to succeed in meeting a wide range of educational and workforce development challenges.

Based in Scotland, SQA work across the UK and internationally. Their staff take great pride in offering exceptional customer service — which is acknowledged by government organisations, universities, businesses and individuals throughout the world.

BTL Learning & Assessment are proud to have been partners of SQA since 2004, and in 2007 they were the first organisation to use the Surpass Assessment Platform for the secure delivery of e-assessments and then later the development of paper-based examinations.
