e-Citizen

e-Citizen qualification
e-Citizen is a basic e-skills certification developed by the European Computer Driving Licence Foundation (ECDL-F) in response to the urgent and growing need for an increase in e-skills within the community as a whole, as highlighted in the e-Europe 2005 Action Plan.

It is a foundation computer skills certification specifically for those with a limited knowledge of computers and the Internet.

BTL's e-Citizen test employs the Virtual Desktop™. Our unique Virtual Desktop™ system provides a truly paperless exam management solution to assess information and communication technology based skills. The virtual desktop is a generic environment where the user can interact with six non product specific applications (E-mail, Web Browser, Word Processor, Database, Presentation and Spreadsheet).

BTL don't charge anything to register as an e-Citizen test centre, and there are no minimum restrictions on ordering tests; you can order them one at a time if you like.

BTL can also supply workbooks that cover the 3 'blocks' of learning covered in the e-Citizen course. The exam itself is delivered online, but will also shortly be available as a a network version to aid centres who have an unsuitable or unreliable internet connection.
