July 2016

What: Workshop for future thinking schools and colleges: New ideas for assessment.
When: 17:00 – 19:00 | 12th July
Where: Leeds
Details: Increasingly technology is being used in the classroom to enhance and support learning. But when it comes to using computers for exams, the options are very limited. We have been working on a new idea with major awarding bodies which will make using computers in exams easier.

Our mission is to give candidates the best possible chance to demonstrate their knowledge & understanding and one approach is to allow them the option to type rather than handwrite in exams. We know that more and more candidates are requesting computers as part of their ‘normal way of working’, but for both final and mock exams, using MS Word or PDFs can still present difficulties and security risks without actually improving marking efficiency and results handling.

Do you share our vision?
We are looking for forward thinking members of the teaching community to discuss the idea with and to help us see if our idea can become a reality. We have built a working version of the software and called it SurpassPaper+.
Now, we need to discuss the solution with people who understand the problem, and share our vision to give candidates the choice to type or write in exams.

The session will take the form of an open discussion followed by drinks and a light buffet, places are limited and restricted to members of the teaching community.
Please join us in Leeds for our first workshop and help us start the evolution of exams in the UK.
