What: e-Assessment Question 2017

Details: The long established “Assessment Tomorrow” series of events will continue in 2017 with e-Assessment Question 2017, bringing together a range of speakers and delegates to share opinions and case studies from the industry.

Where: Edinburgh
Details: Following the success of “e-Assessment Question” in London, “Assessment Tomorrow” was held in Edinburgh, January 2016. BTL’s Tim Burnett spoke at the conference about the use of technology in paper-based assessments, highlighting the new SurpassPaper+ app. The presentation was very well received, prompting discussion about the benefits of such a system.

Details: The 14th annual e-Assessment Question conference will focus on ‘The Future – Where technology is taking us, and how we will get there’.

We are pleased to announce that BTL be represented on both days of the 14th e-Assessment Question conference, due to be held at the America Square Conference Centre, London.
On Wednesday 16th March, Tim Burnett will lead a workshop breakout session showcasing the latest developments in e-Assessment, while on Thursday 17th Jim Crawford will be speaking with Dan Elsworth from British Council in the ‘Showcasing Solutions’ segment of the conference.

AO forum

What: Westminster Education Forum

Details: Tim Burnett from BTL Learning & Assessment will be speaking at the Westminster Education Forum, which has the theme of ‘Digital Technologies and Innovative Teaching Practices in the Classroom’. Discussion will focus on the progress made so far in implementing ETAG’s 2015 recommendations, and will involve a number of speakers sharing their thoughts and opinions.

What: Workshop for future thinking schools and colleges: New ideas for assessment.
When: 17:00 – 19:00 | 12th July
Where: Leeds
Details: Increasingly technology is being used in the classroom to enhance and support learning. But when it comes to using computers for exams, the options are very limited. We have been working on a new idea with major awarding bodies which will make using computers in exams easier.

Our mission is to give candidates the best possible chance to demonstrate their knowledge & understanding and one approach is to allow them the option to type rather than handwrite in exams. We know that more and more candidates are requesting computers as part of their ‘normal way of working’, but for both final and mock exams, using MS Word or PDFs can still present difficulties and security risks without actually improving marking efficiency and results handling.

Do you share our vision?
We are looking for forward thinking members of the teaching community to discuss the idea with and to help us see if our idea can become a reality. We have built a working version of the software and called it SurpassPaper+.
Now, we need to discuss the solution with people who understand the problem, and share our vision to give candidates the choice to type or write in exams.

The session will take the form of an open discussion followed by drinks and a light buffet, places are limited and restricted to members of the teaching community.
Please join us in Leeds for our first workshop and help us start the evolution of exams in the UK.
